How To Store Christmas Decor

Once the holiday season is over, it’s important to think of a plan for how to store Christmas decorations until next year. Storing all the decorations in a sensible way is key to making it easier and quicker to decorate your home come December. To organize your Christmas decorations efficiently, follow these simple tips:

1. Use storage containers

One tip I have found useful is investing in storage bins specifically designed for holiday decorations. This helps ensure the ornaments and lights stay organized throughout their time away from your home. Additionally, by having dedicated bins, you can easily label them with what type of decoration is inside so that you don’t have to search through all of them when you need something specific.

When organizing the storage container, try sorting decorations into categories such as lights, trees, wreaths and garlands.

2. Add Labels

Another tip for keeping decorations more organized is labeling which room each bin belongs in; this helps when it comes time to unpack and set up since everything will already be grouped together.

3. Protect breakable decorations

To protect those fragile ornaments and decorations, use acid-free tissue paper or bubble wrap when packing away delicate items like glass figurines or fragile lights. This will help keep them safe and protected during storage. Another option is to use your soft decor such as stockings and table runners to protect your breakable items.

4. Storing your tree

If you have an artificial tree, it can be challenging trying to stuff it back in the box each year. One option is to purchase a tree storage bag, while another is to shrink wrap your tree. Both methods will protect your tree and keep it looking fresh for next December.

5. Make space

If there are decorations that you did not use this past season, consider donating them. This will allow you to make space for new decorations that you may wish to purchase next season.
